Essay Requirements:

YOU MUST BE A WOMAN WHO LIVES IN THE NEW HAVEN, CT AREA.

In the upper right-hand corner your first and last name, date and college you are planning to attend.

Include your first and last name only on the following pages in the upper right-hand corner.

Double space “without” double spacing between paragraphs.

Proper spelling and grammar is required.

Essay must be at least 650 to 800 words.
Essay winners* will be notified on or before: March 13, 2026.
Winners* will be publicly announced on Saturday May 23, 2026 at the Shar and Shar Scholarship Fund Breakfast held at Cascade Fine Catering, 480 Sherman Parkway, Hamden, CT, 06514.
* Scholarship winners MUST be present at the Shar and Shar awards ceremony to receive your award. If not present, the award will not be giving.
